Abstract

This article is the result of an intervention process that aimed to characterize the social perception of union leaders who perform their functions in the so-called socialist state-owned company. It was based on certain practices associated with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), as well as from a critical-transformative approach that contribute to enhancing the role of the union in the integration of CSR to management systems in labor organizations. In this process it was decided to work with union leaders. A qualitative approach and a practical action research design were followed. Intentional sampling was performed and, some instruments were used as an ad hoc self -administered questionnaire, the learning group and the problem tree technique. Also, for data analysis, descriptive statistics and qualitative thematic analysis were used. There for, it was found that perceived organizational social responsibility practices are predominantly tertiary and focused on the labor dimension; conditioned by little knowledge of the subject. Finally, it is concluded that the company must focus its management on the formation of an integrally prepared man, according to the socialist ideal, based on the creation of multiple spaces for the development of potentialities and participation of workers. The fundamental responsibility of organizations, especially business, lies in achieving the condition of ‘’owners producers’’ of workers, based on the integration of management methods based on participation, cooperation and strengthening of solidarity relations.
