INFODEMIC, MISINFORMATION AND JOURNALS BEHAVIOR DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract
Sharing knowledge through scientific publications contributes to the progress of science. During the current international pandemic situation of COVID 19, scientific publications have increased their presence with solutions proposals in order to the virus neutralization. However, social media and informal sites have increased misinformation. Terms such as infoxication, infodemic and disinfodemic have gained prominence given the exacerbated amount of information proliferating on the networks. Faced with such controversy, the present work aims to characterize the behavior of scientific publications during the period March-December 2020. As well as, to show strategies followed by competent entities to counteract misinformation. For this, the universe constituted by articles published under the open access modality was used. Bibliometric studies carried out by specialists from scientific publications such as: journals indexed in the SCOPUS database, Web of Science, Science Open, Scielo, Medline were taken as a basis to analyze scientific production during the period in question. It is concluded, revealing that during the period the growing increase in medical scientific publications related to the neutralization of the COVID-19 pandemic and the virus that produces it SarsCov2, have been the basis of important results such as effective protocols for the recovery of infected patients, the development of vaccines in various countries, etc. Finally, the competent entities and authorities that have counteracted the great waves of distorted, confused and incomplete information originated in informal social networks are exposed.
