Main Article Content
Abstract
Food and nutritional security is one of the country's political priorities. The new Constitution of the Republic of Cuba recognizes that all people have the right to healthy and adequate food, to consume quality goods and services that are not harmful to your health. Hence the need to build sovereign and sustainable local food systems. In this sense, the objective of this research is to analyze the contribution of the local development strategy to food-nutritional security in Sagua La Grande municipality. To achieve this, the research was based on theoretical and empirical methods, highlighting the logical history, the analysis of documents and perceptions of the actors participating in work commissions. Factors such as demographic dynamics, the deficit of arable land, shortages, increases in price levels and the lack of productive chains are those that most affect food security in the municipality. It was concluded that the local development strategy only explicitly contributes to food-nutritional security from the strategic line of food production, leaving aside the other dimensions of food security.
