Analysis of Danger, Vulnerability and Risk Studies for flooding due to intense rains in Caibarien municipality
Main Article Content
Abstract
Floods due to intense rains constitute a natural danger and can become a disaster with great
negative repercussions. For this reason, a prospective longitudinal descriptive study was carried
out under a quantitative paradigm in Caibarien municipality during 2023 with the objective of
analyzing the results of the studies of danger, vulnerability and risk due to flooding as a product
of marked rainfall in said territory. Through non-probabilistic sampling, the popular councils of the
northern territory were selected. The methods used to obtain the information and develop the
research were observation and Documentary analysis, the technique used were the formulas for
calculating risk approximation, as well as the total sum of vulnerabilities to calculate the total
vulnerability. The most relevant results were that the popular councils of Caibarien II (Van Troi-
Cambaito), Reforma-Crucero and Refugio-La Perla were the most susceptible in relation to the
danger studies. In terms of total vulnerability, Refugio-La Perla presented greater susceptibility.
And, in relation to the risk variable, the studies related to it showed that Caibarién II (Van Troi-
Cambaito) and Dolores-Guajabana-Rojas presented the highest risk of flooding due to intense
rains.
