Improvement of the integrated management of medicine supply chain in Villa Clara province
Main Article Content
Abstract
In Cuban economic context, the development of production chains to achieve integrated supply
chain management constitutes a strategic challenge that cannot be postponed. In
correspondence with the above, this research is developed where a procedure is applied to
improve the integrated management of the drug supply chain in Villa Clara as a secondary chain
condition. The fundamental purpose of the procedure is to provide a work philosophy to the actors
in the aforementioned chain, so as to increase rigor in the decision-making process, achieving
high logistical performance. That is, delivering goods and services on time, avoiding unnecessary
losses or shrinkage, optimizing distribution times, proper management of inventories and
warehouses, making appropriate use of the means of loading, unloading and transportation,
establishing communication channels and adequate coordination, and deal with unforeseen
changes in demand, supply or other conditions. The results obtained contribute to developing
acting capacities in the entities that make up the chain under study, through a systematic
procedure that allows consolidating its integration. It also constitutes a reference study to carry
out diagnoses of other secondary chains belonging to EMCOMED company.
